…and that means only 2 more sessions of small groups left for our fall session! Our last session will be Dec. 7, and we will NOT be having a Christmas brunch in the multi-purpose room this year. Instead, please bring a dish to share within your small group as we wrap up our studies together.
the waiting time
It is easy to get distracted and stressed as we prepare for the Christmas festivities or to beat yourself up when “the most wonderful time of the year” maybe isn’t as wonderful as you hoped. But a friend of mine reminded me, “Baby Jesus is coming anyway!”
It doesn’t matter if your tree is a disaster because the cat gets at it. It doesn’t matter if your kids hate helping with Christmas baking. It doesn’t matter if there isn’t any snow.
Baby Jesus still came. God, in human flesh, chose to be with us. He entered the dark to make things right.
As of yesterday, we officially entered the season of Advent – waiting for Christ to appear. It is a season to mark our waiting in Hope for the One who was promised to save us. It is both a joyful anticipation and a deep longing for the world to be made right again. Our world is so broken, but Advent is a time to remember that Christ entered our world to be “God with us,” and a light in the darkness.
(these thoughts about Advent were inspired by this blog post.)

A huge thanks goes out to all who came and played games and volleyball at our evening event on 17th! It was exciting, energizing and encouraging to meet so many new friends and share laughter and snacks.
Keep your eyes and ears open for more information about another evening event in the new year!
