YOUTUBE DISCUSSION

Batting Perfection

Video Link: Ultimate Batting Perfection

Topic: Being Perfect

Discussion:

I bet you watched this video and thought: That’s gotta be fake. That baseball player is either crazy good or his friends are crazy good at editing video.

There is something about perfection that automatically makes us suspicious, isn’t there? We think: I’m not perfect, so there’s no way that someone else could be.

And yet, Paul–a deeply flawed man himself–wrote, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

Bible: Philippians 3:12-16; Matthew 5:48

Three questions:

  • Would you rather have a perfect relationship with your parents or get perfect grades at school?
  • What’s one thing you’ve perfected?
  • Which is more annoying: Someone who thinks they’re perfect or someone
    who really is perfect?

Wrestle with this:

If Paul knew it was impossible to become perfect, why do you think the Bible says we should pursue perfection?
