Topic
Triumph

Bible
Romans 8:35-37

Discussion Starter
We each have fears to overcome and moments of triumph when we put fear behind us in order to accomplish a goal. While we may not experience moments exactly like the 4th grade girl in this video, there will be many times in our lives where we look down the ski jump of our lives and have to murmur, “Here I go.”

In Romans 8 the Apostle Paul reminds us of who we are in Christ. He doesn’t tell us that a life with Jesus won’t be scary or full of challenges. And he doesn’t tell us that things that are scary today won’t be any less scary. “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” Paul says that it’s because of God’s love for us that we can each swallow hard at life’s challenges and push ourselves to become more than conquerors.

3 Questions

  1. Would you rather ski off a big ramp on the snow or behind a boat?
  2. Have you ever had to push through a fear to try something new?
  3. Who is coaching you through life’s difficult times like the coach in the video?

Chew on this
If Paul tells us we should be more than conquerors why doesn’t he tell us exactly the types of things we should conquer?
