Proverbs 11:3

Discussion Starter:
It’s said that a true test of character is what you do when no one is looking. Well, in this case, everyone was looking and they just found out that the reporter wasn’t telling the truth. (Or we just witnessed a miracle as a man walked on water!)

It’s easy to fall into the trap that if you don’t get caught in a lie than you got away with it. But Solomon in Proverbs 11 teaches us that what you do privately is important because eventually private decisions end up guiding what you do in public. He writes, “The integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity.

Just like you want to know that you can trust your friends and know that they aren’t going to be two-faced, (duplicity) your friends want to know the same thing about you. That’s why Solomon teaches that it’s best just to be truthful all the time.

3 Questions:

  • Have you ever gotten caught telling a whopper of a lie?
  • Would you rather have great integrity or mega popularity?
  • What do you think happened next in the video?

Chew on this:
How do you think yor integrity effects how other people in your life see you?
