YOUTUBE DISCUSSION

Title:

Who do you imitate well?

Video:

http://goo.gl/hfnC3K

Bible:

Ephesians 2:8-9; Ephesians 5:1-2

Discussion Starter:

Michael Winslow has been mastering his craft of imitation for more than 20 years! This video begs the question: Who are you imitating?

Humans, made in God’s image, are hardwired to learn by imitation. We learned how to walk and talk by watching our parents. We learn an instrument or how to sing a song by imitating others.

In Ephesians, Paul talks a lot about both our identity in Christ and why we exist as God’s children. In Ephesians 5:1-2 he writes, “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Just like you learn a lot by imitating other humans, you can honor God by imitating Jesus’ example in your daily life.

3 Questions:

  1. What’s your best sound effect? (Yes, do it!)
  2. Who would your friends say you imitate?
  3. What’s one way you could “walk in the way of love” in the next 24 hours? (Ephesians 5:1-2)

Chew on this:

What does our desire to be original have to do with Genesis 3?
