It is finally starting to feel like Christmas. We are only a few weeks away from one of the most amazing times of the year. When God gave us the best gift we could ever ask for, His son Jesus. Christmas is always a time of giving gifts to family and friends. I want to challenge you to expand that circle of people you give gifts to this Christmas season. In Luke 10, Jesus was asked the question, who are our neighbours? Jesus answered by telling the parable of the Good Samaritan. We have the opportunity this Christmas season to do just that to the people who live right around our neighbourhood.
There are two ways you can help give gifts to more than just your family and friends this season. The first way you can help is by baking cookies and placing them in a small tin before Dec. 18th. At this point, I have a little less that 20 tins committed and we need around 130 tins. You can read more about this by looking at last week’s post (http://blog.churchoftherock.ca/christmas-baking). If you are able to help with this, please contact me as soon as possible and let me know how many tins of cookies you are able to contribute.
The second way that you can help out is by coming to Adopt-a-Block either one or both of these next two Saturdays. Bring your family and make it a family event! There is no better way to teach your children about the meaning of Christmas than to come and share the gift of love together as a family.
