Exercise Program

1 Corinthians 9:26 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. 27 But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

So I’m doing this exercise program. The instructor is pushing me to the point of aching muscles, well not today but tomorrow they will be. But I know it is good for me because it will help me be stronger and I’ll be better able me to sustain a quality of life and productivity especially as I am getting older in age.   I appreciate all the pain and work I go through and I willingly submit myself to the physical stress, sweat and pain.  Now, if I do this for my good, would I be willing to allow God to also do it for good in me? I submit to these physical stresses but would I allow God to put me through pressures because He knows it is good for me, because He knows it will help me be stronger, because He knows that I’ll be better able me to sustain a quality of spiritual life and productivity especially as I am getting older in age.  Usually we grumble and complain about the pressures upon us, but maybe we should see that these things are God’s ways of working for our good. But that would mean that we have to trust Him, trusting that He knows what is best for us. Trusting Him even in the painful times. Trusting that our Lord is producing true spiritual muscles within us, even when it is not easy.
