I came across this quote from Rick Warren today and thought it was a great reminder of why we’re doing what we’re doing:
“Teaching means simply passing along knowledge. Transformation means actively listening to the Word of God and allowing it to truly change our lives. That’s why it’s so vital to get our hope from God’s Word every day!”
For the next 6 weeks (i.e. until Easter weekend) our entire church is focusing on LEARNING the Word, LOVING the Word and LIVING the Word. This will be the theme of our sermons, our children’s and youth lessons, and our small group studies (in more than 150 groups!).
Even though most of our 40 Days in the WORD small groups have gotten started with the study this week, it’s not too late for you to join too! Please visit us at Group Link after the service this weekend for an updated list of groups that still have room for more members.
We’ll also have more WORKBOOKS available this weekend (at GROUP LINK) in case you haven’t yet purchased yours.
(The small group workbooks are $10 at Group Link or from the church office)
Or why not drop in on our ONLINE GROUP as they go through the study? Simply visit live.churchoftherock.ca at 8:25 PM on Sunday night and log in to join the chat!
P.S. For those who want to go deeper in their personal study times, you can find additional free devotional videos, Scripture readings and more directly from the 40 Days in the Word publishers at 40daysintheword.com (you’ll be asked to create a login).
This is a praise report as a result of the healing service on Tuesday, Feb 18, 2014 [Power & Praise]. During the service, my right hand thumb (arthritis) was healed. For 3 and 1/2 years I have had pain in this joint; 2 cortisone injections and multiple x-rays and several chiropractors and massage therapists. Since then I have seen a hand specialist who recommends hand surgery in the next couple of years.
During the service and after prayer, the swelling immediately went down—no more swelling. The pain was gone and the thumb joint was “crunchy and loose”. I waited 2 days to write this report to see if my miracle still was valid. I am happy, no ecstatic to report that still no pain. My thumb is still crunchy and loose, but no pain. I surmise that once the swelling went down, the joint was in fact loose. I know that I am healed by the power of Jesus. The repair is in the works! I look forward to the day that I can show the doctors the before and after x-rays, and say that my God Heals!
Thank you so much!
