Christmas time at Adopt-a-Block is one of my favorite times of year. We asked the people of our church to bake fresh cookies so that we could hand them out to the people on our blocks. I was blown away by the generosity of the people in our church. This past Saturday (Dec. 18th), I came to the church a little before Adopt-a-Block to see how many tins of cookies people ended up baking for the blocks. I was so excited by what I found.
As you can see from the pictures, we had more than enough. We even had a lady in the church donate a whole lot of vinartertas for us to give out as well. We ended up giving one tin of cookies and one vinarterta box to every family that was home that morning. Every home on these two blocks that we have adopted received some Christmas baking as well as an invitation to our Christmas eve services.
The people on the blocks were shocked by our generosity. In todays day and age, nothings is given away for free. To me, this is what Christmas is all about. Giving generously to those around us. I want to say thank you to all the Church of the Rock people that helped by baking and also to those that help deliver them.
